Birmingham Bar Association
The Bulletin is a quarterly publication of the Birmingham Bar Association provided to its membership of roughly 4,000 lawyers and judges in the metropolitan Birmingham area. The Bulletin committee oversees the publication and prepares and solicits articles on developments in the law and human interest topics. These often include book reviews, lawyer avocations, judicial profiles, elections of officers, member and bar activity announcements, and articles of general interest. First published in the 1960s, the publication’s inaugural editor was William H. Cole, Sr., who was succeeded by Warren Lightfoot from 1968-1974. Robert R. Kracke has edited the publication since then, except for 1978 when R. O. Hughes served in the position....

Botanical Gardens
Birmingham Botanical Gardens uses print media throughout the year in multiple ways. I began working for The Gardens in 2005 as a designer for the annual report. The successful working relationship from that project allowed me to do more projects for The Gardens as a contract designer. Birmingham Botanical Gardens is very fortunate to have a strong marketing team on staff so they plan their needs well in advance of events and distribution. Over the years I remained as an outside resource to help the team meet all the demands of the marketing department. Many of their projects have been handled in-house so as a team we collaborate to keep...

Over the last several years we have kept a commitment to the company logo while transitioning some of the marketing materials to a bolder statement that competes with similar size companies in the...

YWCA
I began working with the YWCA Central Alabama in 2004. They had been privileged to enjoy complimentary design services from a variety of ad agencies. While this saves a lot of money for a non-profit organization, the agencies are not highly concerned with a corporate standard when they are providing free design. YWCA had an abundance of brochures and materials for every service but none complimented another and no brand standards were evident in any of the materials. We started by accessing the national brand website and became familiar with the standards that are expected across the country. Over the years, we have replaced all of the materials and each...
